Martin was born and raised in Miami-Dade County Florida. He has been married to his wife Cindi for 25 years. He has one son Michael, 21, and a daughter Leigh, 18. Martin received his B.A. from the University of Florida in 1984 and his J.D. from the University Of Miami School Of Law in 1988. Martin began his legal career working as a certified legal intern in the Miami Dade County State Attorney’s Office. At the State Attorney’s Office, he handled hundreds of calendar calls and bond hearings, and tried numerous bench trials and DUI jury trials.

In 1989, Martin went to work as in house General Counsel to several transportation companies. He managed several hundred insurance defense files and was also responsible for labor law hearings, union negotiations and representing his clients in front of several governmental and administrative bodies. In 1997 Martin became Vice-President of Mergers and Acquisitions for a publicly traded company (Coach U.S.A.). He traveled throughout the United States and negotiated and helped oversee dozens of private business acquisitions for the public entity. Since 2001, Martin has been of counsel to Stolzenberg, Gelles and Flynn LLP, and General Counsel and Partner to Avatar Reality and Lansdowne Mortgage. Martin is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator. Martin is currently a Circuit Court Judge for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.
